Career Profile

Ahmed Tanimu Mahmoud holds Diploma in Social Policy and Administration; B.Sc Sociology, Postgraduate Diploma in Education; Master Degree in Crime Management Prevention and Control; Advanced Diploma in Law; Professional Diploma in Terrorism; and PhD Criminal Psychology, National Ribat University, Sudan. Ahmed has written, contributed chapters, and published widely: Six Single Authored Books; the books include: The Negative Impact of Truancy Among Secondary School Students (2014), An Overview of Community Policing in Nigeria (2014), An Appraisal of Teaching as a Noble Profession (2015), Children with Special Needs (2016) ‘‘An Introduction on Science and Technology for the Early Years (2019); and A mirror guide to criminology and behavioural science theorizing (2022). He has won several Research Grants both local and National level and Published several Authored articles in learned reputable academic journals both within and outside Nigeria. Ahmed has attended several Conferences and Seminars and presented scholarly papers. Dr. Ahmed is a Fulbright scholar at Maryam Abacha American University of Niger Republic (2018-2019). A part-Time lecturer at Nahda University Khartoum-Sudan (2017-2018), Federal College of Education, Kano-Nigeria (2013-2017), Kaduna State University (School of Continuing Education) 2019-date and Facilitator at National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) 2021-Date. He is a member of professional associations such as American Society of Criminology (ASC), National Anthropological and Sociological Association (NASA), Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN), and Association of Nigerian Educators (ANE). His areas of interest and specialization are Juveniles, Drugs Abuse, Scandals, Burglary/Theft, Human Rights, Gang Behaviors, and other youth-related social problems. He is currently a Reader of Criminal Psychology and Criminology in the Department of Criminology and Security Studies, National Open University of Nigeria.
