Career Profile

Dr. Basil Ibebunjo is an accomplished scholar and practitioner who holds a PhD in Strategic Studies. His research interests are broad, spanning peace and conflict studies, military science, armed conflict, environmental security, international affairs, counterinsurgency/terrorism studies, hybrid warfare/cybersecurity, and geopolitics and strategic policy.

He is currently a senior lecturer at the Department of Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution, National Open University of Nigeria, Abuja. Dr. Basil serves as the Secretary of the Department’s Post-Graduate Board and teaches across all levels at the department.

He has published several peer-reviewed papers across several areas of his interest and is also the Managing Editor of NOUN International Journal for Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution and seats on the Editorial Board of many international and local journals of repute. Stemming from his experiences beyond academia, he is the Zonal Coordinator of NOUN’s North Central Incubation Centre, where he is responsible for the entrepreneurship education and training of thousands of students from across the region.

As a passionate advocate for interdisciplinary approaches, Dr. Basil combines theoretical insights with practical applications with the aim of bridging the gap between theory and practice. Through his dedication to research, training, teaching, and field activities, he continues to inspire and equip the next generation of students and scholars in international peace, strategic, and security studies.
