The Department of Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution was officially and legally established by the Senate of the University in its meeting held on Thursday, the 3rd day of October, 2019. Prior to this time, the Programme ‘’Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution’’ was operating as a Unit under the Department of Political Science and it has made immeasurable contribution to the development of the University at large in terms of its laudable programmes and high turnout of applicants for its programmes which includes; BSC in Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution, PGD in Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution, MSC in Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution, Mphil-Phd in Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution and PhD in Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution. The Department is known to have graduated students who are making great and remarkable impact in their respective places of operation and the list is still counting. Lecturer’s Profile
Dr Iroye Samuel Iroye
Samuel Opeyemi Iroye is an erudite scholar, a motivational speaker, a legal practitioner and a passionate teacher. He is an Associate Professor of Strategic Studies and Conflict Resolution. Samuel O. Iroye has a degree in Law (LL. B) from the University of Ilorin, Kwara State. He has a Masters’ Degree in Law and a PhD in ‘’Strategic Studies’’ from the Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, Edo State. He obtained a Post Graduate Diploma in Distance Education from the National Open University of Nigeria. He also had a theological training at The African Church College of Theology, Lagos where he also bagged a Diploma in Theology. He has been an active legal practice and full time lecturing at the National Open University of Nigeria. He was the first Head of Department of Commercial Law, National Open University of Nigeria. He is the first and present Head of the Department of Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution of the National Open University of Nigeria. He is also presently the Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, National Open University of Nigeria, Jabi, Abuja. He has passion for teaching, youth training, development and empowerment.
Dr Adeola Timothy Adams
Adeola Adams lectures at the Department of Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution, Faculty of Social Science, National Open University of Nigeria, Jabi Abuja. He obtained B.Sc. degree in Political Science from the University of Ibadan in 2001, and Masters in Peace and conflict Studies from same institution in 2004. He obtained a Ph.D in the same discipline in 2012, University of Ibadan. Dr Adams also studied Federalism, Decentralization and Conflict Resolution at Diploma Level from Institute of Federalism, University of Fribourg, Switzerland in 2008.
He is the recipient of the 2010 Small Grant instituted by the Institute for French Research in Africa (IFRA-Nigeria) of the Institute of African Studies, University of Ibadan. He also bagged the scholarship of Swiss Confederation to study Federalism, Decentralization and Conflict Resolution of the Institute of Federalism, University of Fribourg, Switzerland in 2008. Furthermore, he received the scholarship of Mediation Training Institute, Nigeria (MTI-Nigeria) to participate in the International Mediation Accreditation Course and Managing Workplace Conflict Training of Mediation Training Institute International (USA).
Dr Adams is a Member of many reputable professional bodies, where he holds key positions. He is the Secretary-General and distinguished Fellow of the Society for Peace Studies and Practice (SPSP); Vice President (Exams & Records) and Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators; Member and distinguished Fellow of Chartered Institute of Church Mediators and Administrators; Member, Global Alliance for Peace and Member of Frontline Negotiators ((CCHC) among others.
Dr Adams has edited two books and has many articles in both books and leaned journals. He is happily married to Adebola Temitope ADAMS with Four children-Michael, Michel, Maxwell and Mabel.

Dr. Musibau Olabamiji OYEBODE
OYEBODE Musibau Olabamiji, Ph.D as a graduate student attended the University of Ibadan between 2007 and 2012, University of Ibadan between 2003 and 2005 and The Polytechnic, Ibadan between 1993 and 1995. As an undergraduate student he attended University of Ilorin between 1987 and 1991 and Oyo State College of Education, Ilesha-between 1981 and 1984. He obtained the following academic qualifications: Ph.D Peace and Conflict studies in 2012, M.A Peace and Conflict Studies in 2005, B.A (Ed) (Honours) Language Arts (English) in 1991 and N.C.E English/Islamic Studies in 1984.
His professional qualifications are Master of Communication Arts obtained in 2002 and Postgraduate Diploma in Mass Communication obtained in 1995. He is an Associate Member of the Advertising Practitioner Council of Nigeria, Associate Member, Nigerian Institute of Public Relations and a Fellow of the Society for Peace Studies and Practice.
His work experience spanned over three decades in both public service and academy. He started as a teacher of English Language with Ogun State Post-Primary Schools Board between 1986 and 1991. He worked briefly with Oyo State Post-Primary Schools Board in 1991 also as a teacher of English Language.
He worked at the Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State, Ibadan from January, 1992 to May, 2013 engaging in production and presentation of radio and television programmes. He was the presenter of So Daa Bee, a med-arb and conflict resolution programme on BCOS Television for ten years between 2003 and 2013. He assumed the position of Assistant Director of Programmes in 2007. He was Pioneer Head, BCOS Ajilete FM Channel in 2009 and Head, BCOS Television Channel between 2010 and 2013.
He joined the National Open University of Nigeria in June, 2013. He is currently a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution. In addition to his academic duties, he is the Acting Director of NOUN, Iwo Community Study Centre, Osun State, a position he assumed in August, 2020.

Samson Ojonugwa ADEGBE
Adegbe Samson Ojonugwa (PhD in view), work experience spanned between year 2000 to 2009 with Olamaboro Local Government Education Authority, Okpo (OLGEA) under Kogi State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) as a Personnel Assistant and he rose through to become Assistant Education Officer.
He studied Economics/Political Science from Kogi State College of Education, Ankpa between 2004 and 2007. He graduated with BSc Political Science, Second Class Upper from Kogi State University, Anyigba in 2014 and bagged his MSc in Political Science (Political Economy and Development Studies) with distinction from the same University in 2019.
Adegbe Samson Ojonugwa is a member of Teacher’s Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) and he has taught Government, Economics, Civic Education, Security Studies and History at secondary school level in Kogi Sate, Nasarawa State and Abuja before joining the service of National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) in 2020. Currently, a Lecturer in the Department of Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution with some publications to his credit
Fatele Samuel Olaleye
Fatele Samuel Olaleye is currently a PhD student of Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution, He studied Political Science from the University of Ado-Ekiti (now Ekiti State University- EKSU) between 2004 and 2007. He graduated with BSc Political Science, Second Class Division and his M.Sc in Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution from the National Open University of Nigeria in 2019.
Fatele Samuel Olaleye is a member of the Society for Peace Studies and Practice. His work experience spanned over a decade in both private and the University system. He was a Sales Personnel of Glaxo Smith Kline gsk., covering Kaduna South from November, 2011 through to 2013. Fatele joined the service of National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) in 2013 as an Editor II with the defunct Directorate of Instructional Resources Development (DIRD) where he rose to become a Senior Editor with the “now” Course Material Development Unit (CMDU).
He is currently, a Lecturer in the Department of Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution. In addition to his academic duties, he is an Adjunct Editor to the Course Material Development Unit (CMDU) of National Open University of Nigeria with some publications to his credit.

Mr. Heman Johnson
Heman Johnson is a Asistant Lecturer in the Department of Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution, Faculty of Social Sciences, National Open University of Nigeria, Jabi Abuja. He obtained Diploma in Public Administration 2010, from Adamawa State Polytechnic. B.Sc. (Hons) degree in Criminology and Security Studies from the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) in 2014, M.Sc. in Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution from NOUN in 2018, and currently enrolled in the same NOUN for Ph.D in the same discipline. He was A Registered member of Nigeria Institute of Administrator who join the service in 2007 as clerical staff rose to the rank of administrative cadre in 2016 has now converted from non-Teaching staff to Academic cadre in 2021.
He is an experienced Criminologist, Psychologist, Administrator Forensic Scientist and Mediator, pace setter, Lecturer in Peace Studies and Conflict, Resolution. He has written and still publishing papers.
Mr. Heman Johnson is interested in mediating, negotiating, intervening and adopting alternative dispute resolution to settle dispute, conflict in community to regain peace and tranquility for sustainable development
He is currently a Lecturer in the Department of Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution, Faculty of Social Sciences, National Open University of Nigeria, Jabi, Abuja.
